Summer Vacation - Netherlands

So here's the reason for my little blogging absence lately - I've been on vacation :) I spent a good week in the Netherlands, on the coast of the "Eemmeer" making half-day-trips to the countryside and two days in Amsterdam. The weather was quite bad but best thing - I spent lots of quality time with my little family. Sleeping until late, swimming, long walks on the seaside, reading and watching movies on DVD in the evenings - just perfect. Now I feel relaxed and comfortable back home. And I got to get back to Amsterdam once again - it was my first time there and it was lovely!

Ich war auf Kurzurlaub in den Niederlanden, daher auch meine spärlichen Posts in der letzten Zeit. Zuerst ein paar Tage am Eemmeer, einem der niederländischen Binnenmeere. Von dort aus sind wir ein wenig herumgefahren und waren anschließend 2 Tage in Amsterdam. Das Wetter war leider ziemlich mies, Regen gab's jeden Tag in Mengen - aber ich habe eine schöne intensive Zeit mit meiner kleinen Familie verbracht. Lang ausschlafen, schwimmen, lange Spaziergänge auf dem Deich, viel lesen und abends DVDs schauen - also einfach perfekt. Und jetzt bin ich entspannt und gut gelaunt wieder zuhause. Nach Amsterdam will ich unbedingt nochmal länger (auch zum shoppen, denn das gabs in dem Urlaub gar nicht).
Jetzt folgt mein kleiner Foto-Bericht - ich hoffe Ihr mögt Schiffe :)

Maybe it's because I don't understand the words. But it sounds "strong" - like the right thing in sad times.
Vielleicht mag ich's weil ich den Text nicht verstehe. Auf jeden Fall baut es mich auf, wenn ich das brauche.

Do I have to wed once again to answer? :) I took a few CDs to our dinner (mostly Yann Thiersen but also Divine Comedy). Okay, that's a bit cheesy!
Ich bin ja schon verheiratet und da mein Mann meine "Obsession" kennt, durfte ich die Musik bei unserem Abendessen aussuchen. Ich habe mich für französische Instrumentals von Yann Thiersen entschieden und eben auch für Divine Comedy, auch wenn es ein wenig kitschig ist.

Actually I have not thought of it. But years ago I've been to funeral of a not very close acquaintance, and they played Sinatra's "My Way". It was hard not to burst into laughter knowing because it was the least song to expect at this funeral.
Darüber hab ich mir wirklich noch nie Gedanken gemacht, aber Oasis ist schon mal nicht verkehrt. Eine kleine Anekdote am Rand: Vor Jahren war ich mit meinem Vater auf der Beerdigung eines entfernten Bekannten, dort kam plötzlich Sinatras "My Way" aus den Lautsprechern. Mein Vater und ich mussten uns wirklich zusammenreißen, um nicht laut loszulachen. Es war eine sehr bizarre Situation, und das Lied war das letzte was ich dort erwartet hätte.

Don't expect me to write on the music my parents listend to - total crap :) This in one of the first songs I liked. I even got a single record of it (don't know where it is now).
Bitte erwartet jetzt keine Musik, die meine Eltern zuhause laufen ließen - in dieser Beziehung waren sie keine guten Vorbilder. Dieses Lied ist eines der ersten, das ich mochte (und mich heute noch daran erinnern kann) und mir damals sogar eine Single-Schallplatte (die leider verschollen ist) davon gekauft habe.

30 - Your favorite song at this time last year
Adam Lambert - Whattaya Want From Me
Maybe a bit mainsteamy but I like to sing (or shout) along with this song.
Vielleicht etwas zu sehr massentauglich, aber toll zum minsingen!

Inspiration - Palazzo Pants

I love flares and wide leg pants, but I'm still not sure about palazzo pants (on me). Nevertheless - these outfits are awesome! What do you think - wear them?

Schlagjeans und Hosen mit weitem Bein finde ich fast immer toll - bei den Palazzos bin ich noch nicht ganz sicher, was ich davon halten soll. So kombiniert finde ich sie aber schon sehr toll! Wie findet Ihr diesem Trend?

11 - A song from your favorite band
Depeche Mode - Matyr
DM is my fave band for ages, I've been to many concerts and know the words to most of their songs.
Die Musik von Depeche Mode begleitet mich seit meiner Jugend, DM könnte ich wohl am ehesten als meine Lieblingsband bezeihcnen. Ich war auf einigen Konzerten und kenne die meisten Texte.

12 - A song from a band you hate
Xavier Naidoo - Everything/Alles
He's not a band (and I don't think I hate him) but I just don't get it - the person, the music and the attitude. But I usually don't care for music I don't like so I look for another station as soon as he's playing on the radio.
Zwar keine Band (und hassen? weiß ich nicht...) aber ich finde die Musik furchtbar, die Person unangenehm und den ganzen Habitus mehr als anstrengend. Wie auch schon in Teil 1 genannt, versuche ich Musik die mir nicht gefällt zu ignorieren, also wird einfach das Radio weitergedreht.

Rick Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca
Although not a latin fan, I have a soft side for the older Ricky Martin tunes :) Hey, it's just fun party music!
Ich weiß auch nicht wieso (ich kann mit Latin Musik eigentlich gar nichts anfangen), aber einige der alten Ricky Martin Songs mag ich doch gerne. Einfach nette Party Musik :)

Craig David - Fill Me In
I'm not that much into dance music - but the 2step/UK garage sound had its charme even for me.
Dance music ist eigentlich nicht mein Genre, aber bei 2 step/UK garage bin ich doch gerne dabei.

At least every now and then. But 1.000 other songs do as well :)
Zumindest manchmal passt das Lied auf mich, aber genauso auch 1000 andere :)

The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black
I could always use the description - I don't like the Stones but Paint it Black is fine - until bad bad Deutsche Telekom decided to use it as a song in their commercial years ago. So the magic is gone, no more Stones for me!
Auf mich passte immer due Beschreibung "die Stones find ich blöd, aber Paint it Black ist cool" - solange bis die grässliche Telekom es vor ein paar Jahren zu ihrem Werbesong machte. Also ab jetzt - keine Stones mehr für mich!

17 - A song that you hear often on the radio
Gossip - Heavy Cross
I only listen to the radio in the car, over here you only get awful stations :( But I love to listen to FM4 (Austrian radio station) .
Ich höre nicht viel Radio. Eigentlich nur im Auto, denn hier bekommt man nur blöde Sender rein. Ich freu mich immer wenn weiter in den Süden geht und man FM4 empfangen kann!

Muse - Undisclosed Desires
I'm not sure why they don't play Muse more often (over here), even after their tracks on the Twilight OST.
Muse gehört auch zu meinen Lieblingsbands, ich finde es ziemlcih eigenartig, dass man sie (hier) kaum im Radio hört, obwohl sie dank Twilight doch ziemlich bekannt sind.

Kings Of Convenience - Winning A Battle Losing The War
I think their "Quiet Is The New Loud" is one of my most played and beloved album.
"Quiet Is The New Lound" ist immer (noch) eines meiner liebsten und meistgehörtesten Alben.

20 - A song that you listen to when you’re angry
Jimmy Eat World - Pain
And shout it out while driving through the city - a potentially unhealthy action :)
Und dann am liebsten ganz laut im Auto mitsingen/mitgröhlen - aber weniger wütend werd ich dann eher nicht :)

Cool Find - The Impossible Cool

If you're into vintage (mostly black and white) pictures of the real icons of the last century - you got to stop over at this tumblr sometimes. It's indeed impossible cool!

Jeder, der wie ich die Ikonen aus Film und Musik des vergangenen Jahrhunderts verehrt und auf tolle (meist schwarz-weiß) Fotos steht wird hier fündig. Es sind sowohl "Klassiker" als auch weniger bekannte Fotos zu finden - wirklich unglaublich cool!

House Of Harlow 1960 Fall 2011

I'm not a huge fan of celebrities turned "designers" - but the pieces designed by former it-girl Nicole Richie are just my kind of style. And so is the fall 2011 collection from her jewelry and accessories label "House of Harlow 1960". Quite cool and not too hippie-esque! Here are my faves from the lookbook and the jewelry sneak peek:

Von Hollywood oder Model-Sternchen, die plötzlich designen können halte ich eigentlich eher weniger - Ausnahmen gibt es glücklicherweise! Besonders die Fashion-Linien von Nicole Richie gefallen mir sehr gut. Und so auch viele Teile der 2011er Herbst-Kollektion ihres Schmuck- und Accessoire-Label "House of Harlow 1960". Sehr cool und nicht zu hippiemäßig wie ich finde. Hier sind meine Favoriten aus dem aktuellen Lookbook und einer Sneak-Peek der Schmuck-Linie:
